I think you’re spot on. At best, Tesla has enjoyed a performance/design edge over a Chevy Volt or Bolt pure EV. But with BMW, Porsche, and yes, Ford, GM, et. al. all producing EVs in ‘19 or ‘20, who but a fanboi would buy a Tesla?

I was at Horseshoe Bend a couple years back. To get the iconic shot of the full bend of the Colorado River, you have to hang ten over the edge of a 1,000' drop, and point your camera straight down.

And if you’re interested in this kind of stuff, there’s an excellent book, Deep Survival, Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why, that explores surviving in the wilderness, and why some don’t. Great read, and very useful is you do any kind of solo wilderness/desert recreation.
