I do my best to prevent rape by not raping people. But that's just me.
"black women were half as likely as white women..."
Like I said when the first story appeared last week, I would love for Michelle Obama to walk into Barney's, not dressed in First Lady garb but in her work out gear and a baseball cap, with no Secret Service detail in sight, and have the sales clerk not recognize her and pull some shit like this.
I will try to contain my shock that a household with a nanny isn't able to figure out a way to cook home-cooked meals to a minimum (it's hard...) and just say - my mom cooked every night, she is a very talented cook and I'm happy that she's passed on a touch of her talent to me. My problem is always that I haven't…
My grandmother once told me the bible didn't make for good birth control even if you held it between your knees. Reproductive Rights are a health issue not a moral issue. It's time to start acting like adults who had, or wished they had sex as teens/young adults and give these kids the information they need to make…
I think and even stranger component of the 'magical thinking' is that many/most of these people know that babies come from sex. It's not that they don't know how conception works, and it's not that they don't know methods of contraception. It's that they choose not to adopt said methods.
I work in this field so I kept hunting down the info, good table here - (http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/US-Aborti…) - and abortion falls off after 35. 9%ish for 35-39. 3% after 40.
Could be 40 year olds are better at using contraception - having one kid can get you serious about contraception pretty quick. It is also…

Sometimes I wonder if we should pick our battles better? Who can blame a college for wanting its graduates to be hired and accepting the reality of the job market for women. Wear clothes that fit, look attractive, rise to the top and then take off your makeup and heels so the rest of us don't have to…
It's almost as if the human sex drive is an incredibly powerful biologically driven artifact billions of years in the making... I mean, of course a teenager's common sense will override that right?
(Snort) Yes, and the everyone was forced to walk around with a placenta for the next week instead of a bag of flour.
Much to my dismay/devastation, this past July/August, I became a member of that 2% club (initial diagnosis came at 18 weeks, but took about 2 extra weeks for subsequent testing with multiple experts and actual surgery). My husband I were experiencing grief and despair on a level that I had previously thought was…
They're only Stalin' he inevitable.
I couldn't decide what I was going to be for Halloween... Now I'm securely decided that I'm going as Wendy Davis. I've got my pink shoes and everything!
Fucking sucks. I sincerely hoped the money would have to come from their precious football program.
Right after graduating college, I chopped off all of my relaxed straight hair and had extremely short curls. My parents were mortified and exclaimed how I would never find a job looking like 'that'! I let them know that any company that didn't want to hire me because of my short hair would not be the company for me.…
While I do think this represents rather shoddy work on the part of UC Irvine, I firmly agree with the underlying sentiment conveyed by the original image. Dressing in a way that complements your body type and personality will improve your confidence in an interview situation. This is what I wore to my last…
If I see anyone write that they'd be willing to go through what these men did in order to get that money, I think I'll scream.
