The ID engine is great, but it’s not designed for big open world RPG’s with tons of interactivity the way Bethesda games are setup. Sure there’s Rage 2 but I don’t think anyone would consider it comparable with Fallout or Skyrim in terms of sheer interactability or game design.

So what engine would you use? What engine allows for that much interactivity with objects on such a large scale? Genuinely interested. Because, yeah, they own ID software. You’d think they could come up with something.

Some stuff I noticed running this frame by frame.

“It’s not Shrek or Toy Story because it doesn’t need to be and it doesn’t need to be more than what it is.”

Oh, DeSantis and the legislature are WELL aware of the tax implications... that’s why the district isn’t being dissolved anymore- When they realized that dissolving it would leave the surrounding counties with over a billion dollar tax burden, the legislature held an emergency session and walked it back... taking over

It gets bandied around every once and a while, but if even .01% of the Jedi survived, that’s 100 survivors.  That’s a pretty decent amount they can do a lot with while still maintaining the massacre properly.

Welp, good thing they didn't call it terrible as much as call it bland.

We have motorcycle gangs that show up and block the middle of the street

No movies have to be very good. No movies have to be anything. It’s just nice when movies are very good!

Yup, getting rid of these will take care of all their problems of onlookers and disruptive tourists. I mean where else are they going to go? Certainly not the stairs and house from The Exorcist which are literally next door.

... those movies are so utterly divergent I cannot for the life of me ascertain what rhetoric point you were trying to make about ‘films like that’ beyond critically successful.

No one—anywhere—expected the Mario movie to be the next Whiplash. At all. It never came up.

Children deserve good movies, too.

Children deserve good movies, too.

It’s incredibly easy to make a movie kids enjoy. It’s not a high bar to clear. I think the real needle to thread is making a family movie and by many reviews I’ve read it feels like this was for kids explicitly and they assume adults would rock with it because of nostalgia.

It sounds about exactly what I expected between Nintendo’s “find the safest, least risky move possible and somehow go even more safe than that” approach to Mario and choosing to work with Illumination of all studios.

People are going to hem and haw about that first sentence, but it’s still worth pointing out imo. It’s an easy ask, but they act like any sort of mild criticism or disappointment at the choice to buy/stream the game is equal to discrimination and harassment. It’s not, but they feel like they’re entitled to both enjoy

First, obligatory JKR is a bigot and by playing this game you’re (the general you, not the author here) basically saying you care more about playing a video game than anto-trans bigotry.
