Well, there are many differences, but the most obvious are probably that it has a tail and arms with hands and claws.
There’s definitely more than nostalgia to the appeal of this show. As someone too young for 80's nostalgia (born in 1998), it was was of my favorite shows of all time. Same with my sister, who was born in 2001.
