I also forgot to mention that I-170 ends at I-64 in Brentwood/Richmond Heights/Clayton because rich white people were able to stop it from going any further. If those communities would have been more diverse, I have no doubt I-170 would have continued south to meet up with I-55.

Thanks for writing this. While living in St. Louis, I have also observed similar ways in which infrastructure was intentionally designed to destroy black neighborhoods. I-70 between downtown and I-270 cuts through several formerly thriving areas. I-55 south of downtown cut through several Native American mounds. A

Having grown up in Michigan, I agree with you on the Michigan Left. However, I would also suggest the Diverging Diamond. It has proven to be effective in reducing accidents, especially left turn accidents, but it’s probably more confusing than a roundabout for first timers. MoDOT constructed the first one in

I understand that. There are plenty of middle income people that don’t qualify for the full amount either. I’m just saying the tax credit doesn’t target the people it would benefit the most.

While that may be true, most low income individuals/families don’t have a big enough tax bill to qualify for the full amount.

Came here to mention Frigidaire. I recall a time growing up in the ‘80s that we had a Frigidaire refrigerator that also had a GM logo on it. I’m guessing since my dad was a GM employee we probably got a nice discount on it.

I believe it was called the Isuzu Pup

It’s finally getting better in St. Louis, but there was definitely a lot of fuckery going on with where Governor “Deputy Dawg” Parson was distributing vaccine earlier in the process.

Agreed, that was a good one too.

Creepy-ass vans like this sell ice cream all over the city of St. Louis. If it were for sale here no doubt it would already be sold as it’s definitely a step up from the typical conversion van ice cream vendor. NP

Diamond-Star Motors, the joint Chrysler/Mitsubishi plant that gave us the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, and Plymouth Laser.

Great way to roll into the weekend.

Depends on the situation. If you’re getting groceries or doing some other shopping, it doesn’t make sense to make the rear of the vehicle less accessible when you come back out with your purchases.

Maybe he’s a skilled rider like the paperboy in “Better Off Dead.”

That 300 six was probably one of the best truck engines Ford made. If I recall correctly Ford wasn’t able to get the engine’s emissions in compliance so it was discontinued.

When I read Ultimate Road Trip Car, I was definitely thinking that the drive would be much much longer than 2.5 hours. That’s NBD.

St. Louis County, MO has Old Olive Street Road.
