Agreed. Noxon on “Buffy” often portrayed abusive relationships and sexual assault in incredibly cringeworthy ways, like her “all men are abusive monsters” episode Beauty and the Beasts and almost ALL of season 6 (including the attempted rape in Seeing Red).

Those “growths”are dermatosis papulosa nigra; they're very common in Black skin and completely harmless.
