But if the evidence is truly overwhelming, why would you need the wrong way to do it?

I always feel like bending rules to get an outcome you want is a bad idea because the opposite can be done to confound justice. The dissenting judge here doesn’t like that the conviction was overturned but doesn’t offer a legal reason other than it continues a “disturbing trend of overturning juries’ guilty verdicts

Plus it often requires making a judgment call on more limited information about something with agency.

The entire concept of autopilot basically is built around the idea that people can sustain their attention on the road to step in when it fails

This whole thing is going to get much worse as more of these cars hit the streets and more drivers start to think they’re a replacement for paying attention to the road. And the way they’re designed absolutely makes drivers less attentive. It’s a worst-of-both-worlds scenario

Part of the problem is the entire concept of an autopilot/FSD that relies on human intervention is fundamentally flawed.

It’s 2 ounces per person per purchase. That’s a lot of money this theater chain is making off of deceiving the public. That’s not really that humorous at all.  This is literally what consumer protection laws are for.

In other words, “we really need to hear what a white guy thinks about this” is exactly the kind of thing that a lot

I’m not sure criticizing people who being distracted by and excited about the eclipse is very productive. The reality is that very few of us have spent every moment of the last few months thinking about Gaza. We’ve all watched sitcom reruns, or cheered for Caitlin Clark, or laughed at the new Deadpool 3 trailer, or

Laugh all you fucking want, that “I drank the water in the park that says do not drink and I got sick” scene is not fucking fiction.

I stand corrected.

You’re gonna HATE my upcoming biopic about the time 311 beat up Scott Stapp in a bar

Getting as much or more Lodge 49 vibes.

I don’t find it gratuitous, it’s actually rather refreshing to see a show not shy away from the combat of war at all. People did take heads from the corpses of their fallen enemies and cannon combat is not supposed to be pretty. The violence on the show is always done purposefully, not gleefully. This isn’t some anime

not at all to be the resident Annoying Book Person, but all of this stuff is right there in the original text. for whatever limitations of POV Clavell may have had as a white Englishman of the mid-20th century, his work had an incredible level of compassion and empathy for the women in such a hierarchical,
