Right? SO UNFAIR that a movie star can’t just choose to stop working half the year.

“Even movie stars have to take shitty jobs to pay the bills every now and again.”

I was wondering if “the Merry Gentleman” would come up. I saw it pre-release and thought it was decent, albeit largely forgettable (aside from Kelly Macdonald, who did a characteristically great job). For what it’s worth, I recall Keaton was originally just signed on to star, and then ended up stepping in as director

As long as silly articles are written about silly movies, there will be a need for silly comments.

How outrageous that someone can’t take a 6 month break from working.

Lies!

Yeah, Eskimo isn’t one of those terms that is inherently offensive (it most likely comes from the Algonquin: Ayas̆kimew and means something like, “A person who laces a snow shoe”) but it has fallen out of favor over time. I get it too, the word Inuit means “the people” and that is about as non-offensive a general term

This guy’s supposed to be a sailor who’s lived through a round the world trip and starvation. He should have eaten rats and weevils for weeks and whatever they could find anywhere they made port.

Also, if I’m not mistaken, that’s not a cannonball ripping through Jozen’s men, it’s chain shot.

Nice to add the little earthquake as foreshadowing, after the one in the book felt pretty out of nowhere (I don’t consider this a spoiler, because anyone who’s surprised they didn’t just throw in an earthquake scene for zero plot reason probably isn’t watching this show anyway).

this episode was written by Emily Yoshida, who got her professional start right here on the AV Club fourteen or so years ago

No doubt.

Of those, 95 percent of all deaths on America’s railways were as a result of people trespassing on tracks or at level crossings across the country.”

740 in 2023. Journalism is too much for the kids around here.

Funny thing about railroad tracks - that’s where the TRAINS are. Train tracks are these really obvious things with long metal rails and concrete or wood things connecting them, surrounded by crushed rock. You really can’t miss them.

It’s the Floridians, not the trains.

It’s that Barsanti’s not good at it.

We know a couple who are both producers on pretty high-profile movie projects and they’ve said it’s been an absolute bloodbath that is just recently (and very, very slowly) improving. There’s also a generation of new talent not getting started on the business side because there aren’t entry level job openings being

If your takeaway from my comment was that I disapprove of time- or energy-saving inventions or choices, either you horribly misunderstood or I horribly miscommunicated myself.

I looked up this actor’s age and they don’t want to disclose it. They’re said to be 30-ish. That tracks. I waited tables and hauled drinks in a lot of clubs in between college teaching gigs. I didn’t gaf if my students knew.
Lol, the entitlement.
