Hummer + Camaro = Hmmaro?
Another article on the internet about Millenias. I get it, they can’t find jobs, buy homes or get out of debt.
Pftt. they’re definitely going to raise premiums, citing the additional costs incurred for replacing the systems or their sensors if they get damaged:
Insurance companies here in the U.S., however, say they don’t have “sufficient data” to “validate auto industry promises of safety benefits from automated driving systems.”
Point 2 might have more force if not for a) the fact that McLaren has mostly been a racing car company so to say “McLarens” necessarily implies those, and b) the fact that “because racecar” is the top trump around here. Fair point as to exactly what you said as to “traditionally” beautiful, whatever that means, but I…
It’s the yeast you could do.
Seriously. Give the car’s to a few independent users, compile the results after a few weeks. Onboard computers can tell what portion of time was on highways, at red lights, etc.
You still need a standardized test so that the numbers are meaningful. Each vehicle needs to go through the same scenario, speeds, inclines, etc.
Of course, I should mention that what matters to customers is real world fuel economy, which doesn’t always match up with the EPA’s ratings. So, we’ll have to wait and see how this truck fares in that department.
But compromise is losing! And nobody winning is better than losing!
If you want to have California dictate policy to the rest of the country...
Two points: Good on the manufacturers for just deciding to make what they think will sell and realizing that they are allowed to go over the minimum. I predict VW wont end up meeting what they say and Ford will back out when GM starts selling more.
How about a GLOBAL STANDARD for safety and emissions in modern countries so we never have to worry about the 25-year import rule again?
It’s crazy to think that aiming for regulatory compliance could drive innovation AND reduce costs AND improve profits (in the long run) by creating one set of standards almost everywhere, streamlining compliance costs, testing, and documentation
We should have one single national standard for fuel economy/emissions. To that end while we should uphold the more stringent emissions requirements for the sake of lowering our environmental impact, California should not be able to force their standards on the rest of the country or become the de-facto regulator. As…
