Sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant I just don't understand why sweat is such a big deal. I definitely sweated under my backpacks, but so was pretty much everyone else so who cares?

That's what I think they meant too, but I hope they edit to clarify if it was. As-is it is definitely weird.
Since when? I'm honestly asking; I'd appreciate some citations for this. I do some editing and as far as I've seen, "allegedly" is still perfectly acceptable when talking about accusations that have not yet been proven.
Maybe put some sheepskin or other padding over the areas that chafe? Sometimes it's just the fabric itself that causes the irritation.
People don't realize it, but backpacking tips like this (both on packing and adjustment) are really relevant. Obviously if you're carting around textbooks on campus it's a little harder to distribute the weight properly, but you can still do it as much as possible, and the adjustment is the same.
I don't really get this argument. I grew up in Phoenix and went to university in NM, so I know heat. Yeah, you sweat, but you're sweating anyway. There are other ways to deal with it that don't mess up your back.
I know I do. Originally, all my posts about her were calling her out on her racism. I really don't care to defend her personally, because she's racist as hell and I find the way she uses black women as props to be absolutely appalling.
Absolutely. I got one of their earlier catalogs and it put me off the company, and I let them know exactly why. It's stupid and offensive, and I would have bought flowers from them otherwise as their prices were pretty good and they had some I needed. Vote with your wallets, and be sure to let them know why you're…
It refers to eye color, not the injury. "Black-eyed" was a common descriptor of dark-eyed people in the past, and Black-eyed Susan was a character from folklore.
I didn't get it when I just read the article either. It doesn't make much sense without context.
That's not true anymore, apparently. I just got all excited and checked, and you have to have Hulu Plus to watch it.
I thought it was funny, for what it's worth. :)
Er, just to be clear, the "the" before Udonis is a typo left over from an edit. It seems everyone has realized that, but I figured it couldn't hurt to clarify in case future readers don't. ;) I dashed off that post in a hurry, so please forgive all the typos...
For what it's worth, I'm with you. I thought it was really weird when I first read the article, but then I was thinking about how wedding announcements usually go and talking about times of hardship (be it medical, the death of a loved one, etc.) is often mentioned as a way of talking about how the couple grew…
I agree with you if the science is accurate. I wonder if it's just impossible to really study this ethically (I mean, you can't just go about exposing people to radiation until they get cancer, right?), or if it's a situation where there is more current information available and they just haven't looked into it…
I was wondering about that too. It does seem like it could lead to gender discrimination beyond just the radiation issue, because why hire a woman who has more restrictions when you can hire a man? It isn't as if they're short on applicants of either gender. I would be absolutely against that, since women are capable…
This is an amazing picture and I am totally picturing Nyad doing that now.
I see your point (although I'm also not really sure I agree with it, tbh), but I'll also point out that the young woman had a sports career according to this excerpt (for some reason I can't get the page for the actual announcement to load so sorry if this is inaccurate). For young female athletes in many sports, a…
Thanks, I appreciate the response. I can really see both sides on this one, tbh.
Can you explain how including that imagery in an ad doesn't strike you as homophobic, though? I say this as a queer woman who isn't particularly easily offended generally, but I'm really having trouble understanding how this ad could not be homophobic.
