Everyone places contact information in the header — why would software delete that info? And besides, any company that uses such filtering software should specify any criteria/formatting they need resumes to follow, otherwise both parties will lose out.

I write for a few technology sites (for lack of a better umbrella term) and am a performing arts photographer, and work from home and love it.
I've been thinking about how there are many ways of life where technology doesn't play a role (monks at a monastery, for example), that people are returning to — it's very possible to live without tech and be happy. However, given my situation (photographer/tech writer living in urban India) and how I've grown up with…
We had Commodore 64s at my parents' home-office (out of which they ran an advertising agency with about 10-15 employees) in Bangalore, India. The one I remember truly being ours to use was a Compaq Presario 520, an all-in-one that ran Windows 3.1, had an in-built fax modem, speakers, and floppy and CD-ROM drives.…
Why is the game called Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? Sounds like an RPG or something. Is there a single-player campaign or a back story of some sort?
I'd have to say Reaper (http://www.reaper.fm) - it's easy to grasp, comes with every feature you could possibly need and produces professional results. The trial allows you to use all features and save files too, but I'd recommend paying the asking price of $60, which isn't much for this gem of an app.
Winamp still has, in my opinion, the best feature set of players out there. The Media Library is fast and offers just the kind of search and sorting I need to manage my ~300GB music collection.
When I feel like I've got too much stuff on my FB feed to look at, I use Octofeed.com instead - it's a beautiful clean UI for viewing your feed with an emphasis on content (and yes, no ads!). It basically makes 'good' content easier to spot.
One of the reasons why I waited a long time before buying a smartphone was because I wasn't ready to ditch a hardware keyboard. Swype was what convinced me to take the plunge. While there are times I'm annoyed with it, I figure I'm much more efficient with Swype than with any other keyboard. So yeah, Swype gets my…
So glad to see Twicca get some attention - it's one of the best-looking clients out there (irrespective of platform) and works really well.I use the colour coding a lot and would love to see something like that implemented in my Windows app of choice - MetroTwit.
So you're to going to build your own theme? That's great! There are a ton of free themes for Wordpress too (that are easy to find with Google) and also lots of themes that you customize by building child themes (so that you don't have to deal with the framework as much). All the best with your project!
If you've decided to go the Wordpress route, you've already cut down your work by a lot. Get started by setting up Wordpress and find themes that suit your needs over at Graph Paper Press, WooThemes, and the theme galleries here: [wp.smashingmagazine.com]
I have 3 external hard drives (Seagate and Iomega) that are always on (spins down but indicator is on even when PC is off, like you mentioned) and I haven't had any problems in the past 2-3 years.
Be sure to get AirDroid - it's a free app that lets you access your phone from your desktop browser. You can transfer files, copy stuff to and from the clipboard, even read and respond to SMS.
Here's a thought: if you have an old CRT monitor lying around, don't throw it away. Add it to your existing PC setup for increased productivity and easier computing.
Hi there, does anyone know of good job boards for work-from-anywhere jobs? Preferably writing- or content creation-oriented jobs. Thanks so much!
Sorry, but this looks so bad it makes a really strong case for those cable catchers you can buy. Screams 'bad taste' more than it does 'DIY'.
