The most expensive project in military history, and the idea that an engine competition isn’t worth the money/time/effort...?....the JSF has been nothing but money, time & effort with little results...and it appears to be a bit underpowered...so you’re saying that something that costs hundreds of millions…

Uh, maybe if it was sustained....it’s not. The F-22 has 70,000 pounds of thrust...that’s plenty. Didn’t you read Tyler’s post? The JSF is underpowered and overweight. And it goes from there. I get that the f-135 is the most powerful fighter ever...it's still not enough...

I really wonder just how bad canceling the second engine option has been for the program.....sounds like the 35 could use a bit (lot) more power. That being said, hopefully GE/RR can come in and get it done with the “AETD” and help get this airplane (and others) get some balls. It needs moar power....and less weight.…
