Well, I edited my comment. A Dec ‘19 story names the new record holders, the time, etc.. I’ve read many stories where they both condemn, but also give recognition to the law breakers, which perpetuates bad behavior.

I stand corrected, I just reread the latest story and it didn’t publish the names of the new record holders, just acknowledged the record. The name published was a Cannonball Run insider and former record holder, which is who I thought was the new record holder.

Haven’t all of previous EVs been econo-boxes though? Today you can buy a Bolt EV, e-Golf, Leaf, Niro EV, BMW i3, Kona EV, Ionic EV, etc... They all sip electrons and have plenty of performance. Those prices dont seem too much better than normal ‘17 i3s from what I recall seeing a few months ago. ‘17 would be the year to get, with the larger battery. LAPD prices might be ~1K less, which is cheap, but they were cheap because of depreciation to begin with.
