Thanks, much appreciated.

No she didn’t... because the test can’t tell her who that ancestor is, what tribe that ancestor is actually from.

I mean, it’s definitly racist to call us Eskimos, so maybe instead you could use what we call ourselves? Inuit, Yupik, Inupiaq, Supiaq? (Also, if you don’t know which group name you should use, then you don’t know which group you’re talking about, and you shouldn’t use us as a joke for an article about cum).

It did not - you should read up on how DNA tests don’t prove ethnicity, and how companies are just capitalizing on the lack of scientific fluency of most Americans.

Castro over Buttegieg any day

I did this to my mom, who had six other kids. She honestly got a lock for my door, because I was a wily little shit and it was the 80s.

Quyanaqpuk for this essay!

Oh for sure Americans aren’t hip to much about Inupiaq/Yupik people, even though we’re also American citizens.... However, like you mentioned, I expect a lot more from Jezebel.

I know this won’t be seen, since it’s hours later and I’m in the greys, but could we maybe not blithely repeat racial slurs in the Dirt Bag?

She’s talked a lot of about her struggles with mental health, so doctor’s order could be from her mental health professional recommending that she remove certain stressors from her life in this tough period.

..... The conquistadors were only there because of the explicit permission of the Catholic Church (Inter Caetera papal bull in 1493, Doctrine of Discovery, etc). The Catholic Church essentially gave Columbus, Cortez, Cook, Hudson, et all the legal and moral license to do whatever they want - land dispossession,

Catholic priests shouldn’t have ever been in Latin America, because they certainly were not “peacefully” converting indigenous people or African chattel slaves.

From an indigenous perspective... yeah, the Catholic church and its missionaries have always been about this action. - signed, my grandmother was beaten repeatedly by Catholic nuns for speaking her native language in the 1930s.

Your mom should be able to talk about any and all aspects of her heritage, but thats not what Elizabeth Warren has done during her career (although her campaign right now is claiming that is all that has happened).

Additionally, the DNA test that was performed for Warren by Bustamante used DNA samples from Mexico, Peru, and Columbia, because of the dearth of Native samples in DNA testing. This is all based on a theory, the Bering Strait Theory, that all Native peoples are from the same migratory group. Which is being continually

I disagree that she has only been representing her “ancestry” - below is an image from the Fordham Law Review in 1997, listing Elizabeth Warren as Harvard Law’s first woman of color. Is this just telling people about her family history, or is this Warren feeding into a blood myth?

The thing is, your story is why Elizabeth Warren’s actions make me so made as Native.

This is just..... all really antithetical to how Native communities really work?

Cardi calls herself Bardi all the time, another nickname of hers.... because her name is Belicaris. It’s also in the lyrics to Bartier Cardi.
