Where did you read that the PS4 was supposed to have backwards compatibility? There was no official statement to that effect (fan videos and random journo speculations don’t count). As opposed to PS5 which has been officially confirmed to have it.

Don’t forget that SE had to terminate their contract with CyberConnect2 or whatever and move all the development in house recently, the fact that they’ve already got a set release date for 9 months is fucking impressive.
