On the Polestar 2: It has four driveaxles, and the CVs are apparently made out of brie and tissue paper, and it’s currently in the shop for what I assume is a worn out one, at only 8K miles.

The all touchscreens thing definitely kept me out of a GTI/Golf R.
My Polestar 2 is in the shop today for a noise from one of the rear drive axles, and they gave me an XC40 as a loaner.
Is Genesis sold at the same dealerships that sell Kias and Hyundais?
Since the release of the Stinger GT, I feel like we’ve been hearing complaints that the dealers suck to deal with, because they insist on playing obnoxious dealership games. I don’t see the customer in the market for a $300K car being cool with that,…
Doesn’t Jake Raby make a big deal about how terrible all those high flow air filters are, and how they accelerate bore scoring by allowing more dirt to get past them?
Also, how the heck would you rack up $600 worth of labor on one window regulator? I’ve not done one on a 911, but on my contemporary Boxster, it’s maybe…
It’s a great daily driver. It has the standard EV drawbacks - it’s expensive, range is limited, fast charging is kinda flaky and not ubiquitous enough... Most of that doesn’t matter in normal use, though, as long as you’re in that fortunate part of the population that can afford to own a home. You just drive it into…
As a contractor, you have to charge a shocking amount when billing by the hour to actually make decent money, since so much of it goes away as taxes, health insurance and so forth. I once worked out that, if I were to go freelance, I’d have to charge about $200 an hour to replace my salary and benefits, and that’s not…
Actual P2 owner here. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while, but at the same time, I’m kind of bitter about it.
I’m not sure this is what anyone really asked for.
Yeah, but what kind of mouth breathing redneck is making the bumpers lower for pedestrian safety?
None of them. That’s what kind. Instead, they’re removing the minimally pedestrian safe bumpers and installing jagged metal battering rams.
Why isn’t an EV sports car possible?
Why not just sell the car if they don’t like the ownership experience? There are plenty of other cars, including electric ones, that they could buy instead.
Where’s the Polestar 2?
I owned a Mustang (2017 GT) and a Camaro (2021 SS) for about five years total, and my experience was that the Mustang crowd was more accepting of the 4 cylinder turbo variants than the Camaro crowd was, with less of a fixation on the V8 noise and making a bazillion horsepower.
For what it’s worth, I was a Mustang (2017 GT) and Camaro (2021 SS) owner for a total of about five years. Both brand new cars.
Their customers see the V8 sound as a must-have feature, though.
Go on any message board dedicated to an American V8 coupe (basically, Challenger, Camaro Mustang) and the number one thing you’ll see the folks in there bitch about with respect to EVs is that Joe Biden is going to come to their house and force them to…
Imposing that sound on everyone around them is the number 1 feature that buyers of Challengers and Camaros, and to a lesser extent Mustangs, are after. It’s more important than speed, power or anything else.
Uh, what? Charging an EV doesn’t cost anywhere near that much.
Think 20 or 30 cents per KWh, so which would mean that at 2 KWh per mile (which is astronomical, a normal EV car needs maybe 0.35 KWh per mile), you’re looking at maybe 60 cents per mile. Way less if you’re charging at home.
Re: Ninth gen Civic...
They appear to be old-skool toe clips, which are even worse.
