It might not be that widespread in wider communities, but as a minority myself, if you heard that as a kid, it’s definitely something that lingers, and can still sting in adulthood.

Hot take (maybe?), but I’d put War above the original PotA. Yes, it owes its legacy to the original, but what a beautiful, bleak film, that has so much more to say about society in its current state. And it’s got so many slow, somber moments of pure emotion - look at how long Reeves holds the camera on Ceaser as he

Came here to say the same thing. As a Canadian, I feel super rude keeping my shoes on in someone else’s home, even if they insist. Like, my socks are warm enough - my shoes are probably disgusting.

“Taking precautions to protect yourself from getting sick (for starters, stop wiping your hands all over your damn face) will go a longer ways toward keeping you healthy than avoiding people of Asian descent.

As such a strong purveyor of film who-dunnits, any you could recommend? (Besides the obvious Agatha Christy adaptations)

This is a wonderful article from one of my favourite writers.

So, as they’re sinking, as he thinks they’re about to die, he decides that’s when he wants to mention Palpatine? That’s some truly terrible timing.

Ugh, that’s so frustrating!

Can anyone answer this for me, because I don’t recall the movie answering if (but if it did, I missed it):

When they’re sinking into the sand, Finn says there’s something he never told Rey, and they bring it up a few times, but there was so much going on, I don’t remember if they actually said what is was?

I like that we’re seeing more and more mainstream media where racists are very much the explicit villains. Get Out, Watchmen, the movie, etc.

Can you create private streaming channels on Twitch? I can see this being a great feature for long-distance couples!

For everyone asking what’s the big deal, here’s the thing: racial inequality still exists within Europe. They might not have the same baggage as they U.S., but the after effects of colonialism still ripple through the continent.

It did have a killer soundtrack.

There is a rising tide of white supremecism in the States, but big surprise the guy who got away with pretending to be a Japanese writer for a year doesn’t want to upset the status quo - which not only let him get away with that, but rise upwards, because they current system rewards asshats like him.

Wow, Feige really loves Star Wars. He also originally wanted Peter Quill to carry a Darth Vader doll in Guardians before Gunn changed it to a walkman.

Huawei-what?

From this angle, doesn’t the building resemble an N64 cartridge plopping into the machine?

Honestly, it’s just a nice thing for him to do. No one asked him to do it. Muslim’s don’t expect anyone to stop eating around them. No one is claiming that it is ruining his fast. It’s just a popular guy doing a nice thing, and you’re the only one being a jackass about it.

That Twins one is great visually, but follows some really inconsistent logic. If the rule was symmetry between the two islands, why is it important they have twins, as long as you’re having the same number of kids as the dude on the other island?

Somewhere out there is a planet that last half it’s population, then the survivors flocked to organized religion and prayed, and five years later everyone came back - which they took as proof that their God exists.
