This interview seems to be the only one I've seen of Nathan out of character.

He's actually divorced now

Nathan isn't exactly a "winner", either on the show or real life. He's successful, but part of that success is intrinsic to his having an outsider's perspective.
Corey isn't really an outsider, he doesn't (appear to) question social norms at all; he seems to lack the insight to do so. iI just so happens he also comes

There's a genuine dark side to the show, and Nathan's toyed quite a bit with assumed identities and trust in this season; actually, it's in almost every episode once you realize it.
