Does anyone like it? Was there any reason to do it? Does it serve any positive purpose the old, good layout wasn't serving?

Perhaps we could make a new movie instead

For me it depends entirely if I like the characters and feel like the dramatic effect of the scene is good. Even if the scene exists in its own physical universe that doesn't resemble the real world or even the rest of the movie, if it sells it, I'll give it a pass.

Well, they can terrorize them into being too scared to come out or committing suicide, while demonizing the ones that agitate against these laws and attitudes, turning the broader population against an oppressed minority for generations by blaming them for the country's weaknesses and problems. They can make the cost

Are we giving this piece of shit a second act already? She hasn't even fallen from her first one yet.

Yes, he feels very strongly about expressing his mild bewilderment and sadness about Trump's actions and then voting for every Trump appointee and bill.

The only problem with that is, if he knows it's Hans, why not just shoot him in the head? He doesn't need him alive for anything.

I'm figuratively filing a lawsuit right now!

Bad job, AV Club.

No? But that's a different argument than what you posted about, so you can have it with someone else.

Perhaps adorably on my part, I expect the President of the United States to know what the fuck he's talking about.

He tried the maverick thing for a couple years in the early 2000s and it ultimately didn't work for him. The press loved it and keep pretending he really is that guy deep down. They refuse to see and hear what he has actually said and done throughout his career, and so do a lot of liberals and centrists for god knows

It's way too early to like McCain. All he does is lament that no one is standing up to Trump while he votes for everything Trump wants. He doesn't deserve 2% of the credit people keep giving him for some reason.

It's almost as if every criticism of Obama was a convenient excuse to complain about Obama, and there's no consistent standard or coherent belief system behind anything Republicans say, except "fuck liberals".

This is a classic conservative trick. Whenever one of their own is caught doing/saying something deplorable, they just tell themselves he was "acting like a liberal". That way conservatism is always pure, it's only the infection of liberalism that can pervert its followers. Very tidy and you never have to think too

If there's one conclusion I've reached since the election, it's that America could burn to the ground and most Republicans would be perfectly content as long as Democrats were sad about it.

Of course Otis sticks up for Milo, given all their adventures together

So did Jon Stewart? I wasn't that big on The Nightly Show, but I don't see how getting cancelled once disqualifies you.

Pretty much this, and the brevity of a 7-minute segment with 5 people talking near a studio audience doesn't allow for any conversational depth.

If enough of his fans left him, Maher would become an alt-right frog in half a heartbeat. He aligns with 75% of their philosophy already.
