Yep, heard the same thing. The E60's V10 and SMG were designed to be a cohesive unit, faults be dammed with the single-clutch. That 6MT was truly an aftertought: it was just the 550i transmission bolted on for U.S. consumers. Aftermarket hasn’t really done much of anything for both transmission choices in either
