I’ve been using my google voice number with Hangouts for SMS for years since I had the data plan w/ a 200 SMS for $5 plan. They haven’t forced me to use Allo yet.

Even after the carrier changes, I’m actually back to Hangouts integration for green-SMS people. It’s just more convenient to be able to respond to messages…

I’ve been an iPhone + Fi user since the end of July. I’ve been able to hot spot domestically and internationally (Iceland, Eastern Europe, Hong Kong, and Myanmar). It might just depend on the network you end up on. I don’t see the official iPhone “support” really changing now. Then again, I can’t test this assertion…

I was on the grandfathered iphone plan since 2007. On Prime day (July), I got an X4 to unlock the Fi sim. I used that for a week before setting up my iPhone for Fi.

The new settings just seem to make the voicemail notification work. Your phone will call the mailbox, so it’s not visual voicemail. You also have a choice…

It’s more ergonomic for me to have a 10-key on the left side or wherever I want it.

Another thing I’ve unfortunately found out is that an iPhone’s compass app goes wonky in even sparsely populated trees.
