I have only maybe a quarter-baked thesis, but I want people to enjoy their stuff (that I think is dumb) like comic book movies, pop music, every must-watch TV show of the last ten years, and a million other things, but I also just hate poptimism. What I see as wrong is the need to write about it (and I don’t intend

I saw him live 3 times, and I can’t imagine anyone else ever coming close. He had the most thoughtful thoughtlessness, like perfect comedy zen.

I don’t know when Jake Gyllenhaal decided to model his acting style off Nic Cage, but it works better for Nic Cage, and the majority of the time, it doesn’t even really work for Nic Cage.

Why do I get the feeling like I’m living in some kind of ever-expanding spreadsheet...

Hopefully we take a page from Portugal and other places that provide people real resources.

I totally get what you’re saying (At least I hope so ;-)).

I think they’re demons because we, the individuals, are being tortured by them, and I’m sure we would gladly jump on whatever might chase them out of our lives.

I imagine there are limits to this with some of history’s greatest villains, but

The concept of simultaneous attack and defense is a key component that supports me being a jerk on the internet.

I’m always down to start from first principles!

But then I’d miss out on the pleasures of a suddenly-retracting scrotum!

Maybe we can start a GoFundMe for that kid’s therapy bills, or is there some kind of 529 plan for that? There should be!

While not as unhealthy as parasocial relationships, meta-parasocial relationships are an emerging addictive behavior, where we attempt to sit in judgment of others by making assumptions about their parasocial relationships, projecting our mindstates onto complete strangers who we only know through internet comments,

When I was a child, there was thought to be nine planets; but now there are ninety planets.

See now you’re begging any number of questions on whether prescriptivism is bad ;-)

MCU Writing Cabal Member #1: So, you’re saying “Kingo was his name-o”?

The movies do seem to have a particular combination of washed-out colors, crisp focus and metallic sheen. At least in Prisoners, I recall the cinematography doing a fairly good job at making for an oppressive, dour atmosphere.
