The people of South Korea would almost certainly say that US intervention helped them. That’s a subjective and values based judgement, with which many might disagree, I realize, but they’d just be a part of China today otherwise.

I’m sorry, but this Korean Peninsula situation is just not the place for jokes. America’s number one diplomat literally said that the time for diplomacy with North Korea is over on his very first visit to the region, and the North Koreans are capable of wiping out the 25 million people who live in Seoul at the drop

I am not sure there is a clear historical analogy to be made when it comes to North Korea. The world can be divided into to eras: pre-nuke and post-nuke. Historical rules of war and gamesmanship no longer apply when you have the power to end humanity.

The longer we stay out, the more sense it make for Japan to nuke up. Not sure if that is better or worse, but my guess is worse.

But he said he’d hire the best people! How can that be true if literally every single one of them is utterly unqualified for their job?

I’d agree if not for the fact that one wrong move - including inattention - could put us in all-out war with North Korea, which leads almost inevitably to war with China. I don’t think the Korean peninsula can survive 4 years of us just not paying attention at all, but who really knows?

They are also discovering that there is a reason there are 15 different under secretaries, assistants, experts on certain countries, policy wonks, ect that are supposed to be there helping out. Maintaining U.S. diplomatic relations isn’t a one man job, even for someone who (unlike Rex) has actually done work requiring

I have to get off a shitty overnight commercial flight and be functional in a second language for a meeting at 8 am and this fucking clown can’t even do dinner? Give me a fucking break.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for defending Director-level and CEO-level positions in most companies - they’re often damned hard 70 hour+ weeks and essentially 24/7 on-call, at a level that is beyond the vast bulk of people.

Fuck all these weak-ass fucking fuckers. If you can’t do the job, STAY THE FUCK OUT!!!!!

So many CEO-type old men in this administration used to starting at 10am, going for a 2 hour lunch at 12, and being home by 4pm are suddenly discovering that the “public sector” they’ve mocked their whole lives doesn’t roll that way.

Not to worry. As soon as Jared Kushner gets bored trying to meddle in the Israel-Palestine situation, he and his cronies can just brush Tillerson aside in Korea and start fumbling around there as well. Trump’s doing the whole Andrew Jackson “sort of ignore your official cabinet while having your own private set of

The press cannot seem to awaken from their corporate owned slumber. They fucking blew it during the campaign, and now they are really blowing it with the dictatorship Presidency.

This is all pretty insidious.

If they did, they wouldn’t say.

His lies are hurting him, it will take some time for the damage to take effect. When the crisis hits, no one will believe anything he has to say. And when we need the president to a be a sober presence he will invariably try and make himself look good no matter what, and it will not be a laughing matter. Tackling a

When the Brits are openly emotional, you know things are bad.

And yet no sense that anything at all will become of this. Trump lies with impunity. Words have lost all meaning.
