Not all games are necessarily better with a controller. There's a number of genres for which current touch controls suck but a RPG made for touchscreen has potential to be good.
That was maybe true 30 years ago, but nowadays the percentage of adults reading newspaper is said to be in about 40% (and rapidly decreasing). It's way less for younger people. Try to google "新聞読書率" (stuff like 日刊スポーツ, sports and gossip magazines don't count).
