I don’t know if it was a thing before a run of one of the animated shows but I’m pretty sure Markovia is meant to a war torn authoritarian regime somewhere in the Baltic region...it isn’t clear to what extent there are other powered people elsewhere in the world the show sets itself in but since in the cartoons (iirc)…
