That’s a pretty huge jack man!
That’s a pretty huge jack man!
This is a car site, right? There’s no mention of the car he’s claiming is damaged. What is it? Is it a stock vehicle that is high-centering? Is it a slammed 350z that bottoms out at every curb and railroad track? Or is it a Minivan that’s bottoming out as he’s flying over it? It would actually give us some background…
They need to stick this motor and exhaust on the new Bronco Raptor and call it the Braptor.
I got our machine shop to switch from using a standard parts washer with perchloroethylene to a rental unit from Safety Kleen that uses a heated, caustic based solution. The guys were very skeptical of it until after the first week of use when they realised it did a better job and (surprise surprise) didn’t smell like…
Dawn and Magic Eraser are witchcraft.
Keep in mind that the use with hot water tends to be a one-time go, so degradation isn’t too important. For our stuff that’s designed for immersion tanks, we have to pay attention to it. But SG (not my company, but I know them) works well at lower temperatures, so I’m not sure you gain a ton with heating.
Just check the SDS for any vapor issues before heating. Some stuff throws off nasty fumes when heated. I know SG is in the 105F camp (I sell both 105 and 180 rated fluids, the former for manual cleaning), but they claim it’s for fluid longevity reasons.
Ultrasonic cleaners are way cool.
Even better, an ultrasonic cleaner and some chemical resistant containers to put the appropriate solvent in. Letting the machine do the work is always the right option. Laziness is just a means to increased efficiency.
Yee. It does not matter what value WheelHold has, you are executing line 20 in any case.
I fully intend to go back and read the article, but had to make sure someone mentioned this! But also, I appreciate the attempt and love thinking about the idea that Teslas run on BASIC.
A) This thing is an amazing time capsule
Hey now, don’t forget about Torch. He and Tracy are both certifiably nuts (in the best way).
Seriously. A bunch of people who evidently hate cars but fell ass-backwards into a job at a car site, and a bona fide enthusiast as nutty as the rest of us. Bravo for this piece and the depth of the reporting inside the factory.
There’s THIS....and then there’s the rest of Jalopnik. Hard to believe this is on the same site. Thanks for the awesome posts Mr. Tracy. One of the only reasons I keep coming back.
I could have used this in Walla Walla, in January 1992 when I was having to fix my VW Squareback in the driveway. I was only able to work for 5 minutes at a time, then would have to go inside to warm up for 15 before heading out again.
Oh for a time machine.
The 2nd questions is exactly why people are upset with the dealer model. The manufacture has an incentive program with a promised price structure, but it can’t be honored because a 3rd party has exclusive control over distribution and they don’t want to honor it. My advice, and tell me if I’m off base here Tom, would…
