In point of fact they actually are. They have the power to detain and make arrests, and investigate crimes. They have only been tasked with protecting the President since after William McKinley was shot. Prior to that their main job was going after counterfeiters, a job they still perform even today.

So basically what you’re saying is there’s no way to bring this guy back from the depths of his psychosis, is that right? No chance to see the error of his ways? He backed the wrong horse and so now he’s just fucked? For life?

Wrong again. Monopolies have a profit motive. Governments don’t. In fact a hundred years ago, the government launched a massive campaign to break the power of monopolies and trusts in American business, because they were seen as a threat to democracy. You know who led that effort?

I literally don’t know why everyone was so eager to suck up to that guy. He was an accomplice in one of the most toxic administrations America has ever seen, and lied repeatedly and unapologetically on its behalf. I’m not forgetting that.

Funny in the short term I suppose, but think about it. Getting knocked out for being a scumbag will pretty much guarantee that this guy will never change his views. All that happened is that his anger and hate were reinforced, by violence against his person.

People actually still watch TV??

There was no Democrat “super” majority in 2008-2010. There was only a majority. “Super” majority suggests a “veto-proof, filibuster-proof” majority, which they did not have. But you’re overlooking the main point of my argument. Both Democrats and Republicans could have changed the law to reign in the cost of drugs,

That’s BS. I know because I got eyes, and I see the proof in current prices. Medicare part C and D cannot negotiate drug prices, that part is true, mostly because the pharma lobby managed to grease all the right palms. But private insurance is still the majority of the healthcare market, by a ratio of 2-to-1.

...it’s a wonder that everyone isn’t losing their shit over it.

Wrong. Government in fact has the power to tell companies that charge such ridiculous prices “justify that please”. If they can’t, government then has the power to say “fuck you we ain’t paying that, this is what we will pay, take it or stop selling the product”. A private insurer doesn’t have that power. They pay, or

...good ideas that were long dismissed as impossible by the political consultant class*.

I see the paid insurance industry lobbyist has arrived in the comments already. That was fast.

It’s OK, I refuse to apologize to those twats for speaking out against this fascism. I aim to misbehave. :D

They spend so much time thumping the Bible instead of opening it.

They voted for Trump, so their inability to grasp irony should have already been obvious.

You are one of us, GuanoLad! Let go!!

This video shows the boldness of the King County Sheriffs Deputies and lack of fear of repercussions in threatening and intimidating an unarmed citizen with excessive use of force

Same here, except for the NRA part. I was a card-carrying, dues-paying Republican back in 2008, but several things happened which caused me to cancel my membership and switch to a “No party preference” voter:

Ryan is a splendid example of why they need to amend the Constitution to allow the recall of elected representatives to Washington.
