If an insult is not libel, then yes, it is not libel. What I think you are missing is that the complaints (via reddit) about this guy include both insults and libel claims. The people calling him a creep or saying he was rude were insults and pointless for him to chase people on. Like, that is literally what yelp is…

The US constitution does protect free speech. Libeling someone is not free speech. Free speech does not protect you from consequences of what you say.

Websites have tons of data on them in the back end that trigger things for search engine optimization. Not all keywords, tags, and other metadata make it onto the view-able and public website.

But...how do you explain to the students that it is better to have the logic you describe when looking at the administration, there doesn’t seem to be much of it.
