Perhaps the best-remembered scene from the 1989 Sci-Fi classic The Abyss is when Ed Harris' character has to don a liquid-filled diving suit in order to descend into the Mariana Trench.

Honestly, that was beautifully edited more than anything else. I think the music queue transitions really drove home a lot of the powerful images.

So I have been watching a lot of "these" types of movies lately. They are almost always marvelously written, are fantasy and live action. The movies do well, and people watch the hell of a lot of them.
