Regarding in game content they were upfront about what the game was and wasn’t going to have at launch sooooo I don’t see where the complaints are coming from on that end. Be patient if you have the game now or wait until the content you want is out to purchase it.

I count 7 games in the series that are just the Doom logo or a single creature+Logo. Doom I and Doom II are the only games I see that have actual artwork that depict some sort of action
