No, it doesn’t suck. I would have been perfectly content to not see a walker for the first 2 or 3 episodes. The focus here is supposed to be the breakdown of society. In TWD we are thrown into things in media res, and that was the right choice for show they had no idea was going to make it.
it hasn’t been insteresting, it’s been depressing. The very fact that Martin has had to waste time on something as stupid as the Puppies instead of writing his books is sad.
I am officially delighted and charmed by GRRM. Those Alfies are total class and much-deserved by their recipients. I keep smiling that he did such a thing.
No one person told me that. I acquired that knowledge trough study. You however need to update your sources.
It was actually England who started the war. Though as we won the war we get to write the history.
Pearl Harbor? How about dropping 2 a-bombs? Arden is right. There are no good guys.
But the Hammer and Sickle is still OK.
true but it was pretty terrifying for those Japanese American citizens that were rounded up and corralled into internment camps even though they were legal American citizens and had constitutional rights. could you imagine the US government doing that today to every Middle Eastern person in the US?
Nothing in history is rarely undebatable since none of the historians were there. The fact is that Japan was crushed by the time the U.S had decided to drop the bomb.
Yeah, I live close to a church that is covered in swastikas, obviously because it was built before the nazis. In finnish mythology it is the symbol for the heart of Iku-Turso and it’s supposed to protect against curses and diseases. Here’s the Disney version of that guy:
What makes the nukes even more terrible was that they were unneeded. By the time the nukes were dropped Japan was about to give up. The main motivation was preventing the Soviets from capturing Japan. Also to show the power of nukes to the world.
I actually own a Rudyard Kipling book from 1912 where you had a swastika embossed on the cover, the spine and (I recall-it’s in the other room and I’m too lazy to go get it) on the title page. Kipling, with his history with India, used the swastika like it was commonly used in the Western world....as a good luck…
Nailed it.
That’s different then this...
It’s not like the US isn’t fascinated by it as well. I can’t go to a flea market without seeing a few stands hawking Nazi relics (no doubt lifted during WW2 by the seller’s parents and grandparents,) and a fairly large number of people actually stop to inspect them.
Plenty of people suffered from the Nazis, no need for competition. I also expect the modern Germans dig up a lot of Allied bombs in their backyards.
It’s a swastika WITHIN an iron cross. There’s no confusion here.
should we engage in a ‘who suffered most from the Nazis’ game?
