Exactly! If the heat sink has been attached to the processor for a while, running the system is key to get the paste heated and avoid bringing the processor with it. I’ve removed a heat sink from a cold computer once and brought the processor with me. Luckily it didn’t bend the pins but it was a lesson quickly learned…

They’ve put out desktop APUs for each generation of Ryzen and they’ve always been numbered this way. Zen1 APUs were 2000 series desktop chips sold along side regular 2000 series…

For those who don’t want to buy a TrackIR, you can use your phone with an app called Smooth Track and a Windows app called https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack. Works via Wifi, uses your phone’s selfie camera and has minimal lag. Costs about a tenner for the app and i’ve been impressed so far.
