YES TO THIS! Honestly I don't care if it's a little slower around the track or if it's .2 seconds slower to 60, I like driving and shifting my own gears while carving some twisty roads completes the experience.

I get 30 Mpg at 70 mphs in my 540i 6 Speed. I average 18mpg most of the time though.
I currently daily drive a 2003 6 Speed 540i and it's hands down my favorite car that I have ever owned. It really is spectacular to drive and not one creak or rattle 11 years in.
