Bondo, bad paint job, no tail-gate and SEVEN GRAND?! CP.
CP all the way. And, I’d like to see some more pix of bed & rear window work (there aren’t any better ones in the original ad, either) to get a better feel of how that’s executed ... although I’m guessing a closer look at that would make it even more crack-pipier.
Too many questions at that price. $5k and we’ll talk.
I just got back from Spectre, I was really looking forward to it. I’m glad I’m not the only one who disliked Skyfall, and I liked your assessment of Casino Royale.
I made the plunge to see this today, and I can safely say it is light-years better than Skyfall, and right up there with Casino Royale. There are a couple of obvious giveaways (such as who is behind the surveillance initiative) but all in all, it made a lot more sense than Skyfall. And Christoph Walz makes a very good…
Oh god the chases. First the low speed drift demo through Rome, then the mountain descent with Bond in a black aeroplane, pecking at the trucks like an angry crow. Phoning it in.
Funny you should mention Ethan Hunt. I saw Spectre on Monday and (re)watched Ghost Protocol on netflix the next day.. the latter has aged very well indeed. Spectre is muddled and weak in comparison. And enough with the agent-gone-rogue theme, please.
I was a little disappointed with this one. Blofeld’s motivation seems petty: I felt like my daddy loved you more than me! How did he end up being the head of Spectre, and why? And the love story with Madeline just, like, happened. Because they almost died together, now they’re in love. The whole movie felt too long…
I wish that I could join your enthusiasm, Justin, but after a first viewing I just cannot do so. Mind you, I never fully judge a movie after just one viewing, and I do really want to see it a second time. The script just felt too unfocused and it lacked narrative drive and a sense of urgency/energy.
I have to say that I pretty much disagree with everything you say.
I agree that Spectre is a classic Bond film in a sense, but it can be a bit hard to get into for the casual viewer. My impression was that you really needed to have watched all the previous Craig films to understand some parts of it. It acts like a sequel to all of them in a sense.
This is what I wrote on Oppo:
It looks like IO9 had more fun with the movie than I did. I mean the big countdown to midnight when the spy program was going to take over. It just never seemed like all this had to go down by then for the world to be saved. When you have Blofeld, the fate of the world should be at stake and I never felt that. Plus,…
Yep. Add one major plot problem that I’d label the size of a black hole: the whole grand alliance of intelligence services required a ridiculous suspension of disbelief.
I kind of feel like we’re all ready for a new Bond. People are talking about who it could be and I think it’d be a little disappointing if Craig came back. He’s been great and 4 films is plenty for this particular incarnation. This film bored me for the most part. It’s not terrible, but it was lackluster and it kind…
Really mixed on it. Loved the style, did not care for the substance.
For me, the Daniel Craig era Bond films are ranked thusly:
