What you're saying makes sense, though it's hard to imagine not feeling resentful of someone who could've presumably gone to a sperm bank if their priorities changed that drastically.

You (and ad infinitum) are probably right, though I'm not sure I've ever heard about anyone going down that route. Even here on Jezebel, where I get the majority of my abortion-rights education, I don't remember anyone saying that they discussed abortion before beginning a sexual relationship. I'm not exactly…
See, even if that .1% is over a year of average use, that's not actually very reassuring for me. I want better odds!
I think you're right, but my anxiety is more around what's acceptable once things have already gone wrong. The very fact that birth-control is not foolproof is used on Jezebel pretty often to highlight how important abortion rights are, not to mention the fact that in rare cases male vasectomies can actually revert…
Haha, well yeah, I just can't imagine a good way of saying "in case this condom and your birth control fails, what are your feelings on abortion?"
"How much of a dick move is it to decide what goes on inside your own body?"
If you did restrict late term abortions then I think the only acceptable alternative would be to offer cezereans/induce labour so that the women doesn't have to be pregnant for any longer than she wants to be. If viability is what makes you uncomfortable then get that baby outa there, premature or not.
So I'm guessing we can all agree that no one should be able to legally compel a woman to have an abortion, but how much input should a guy be able to give when the woman is making the decision? This is completely hypothetical for me since I'm not in a sexual relationship, but it is one of the things I worry needlessly…
This reminds me of my friends protestations that his fear of wasps isn't irrational, because wasps sting. What is irrational is his fear that if he looks into the toilet while flushing then skeletons will come out and attack him.
Hmmm, I hadn't thought of that but you're probably right. I've had instant crushes on women who definitely fell into the "obese" bmi range, but if someone had "obese" or similar listed on their profile I don't know if I would overlook that. There's definitely something about knowing someone in person that online…
Apparently my granny used to tell my brother that she was the only person in the world who loved him, not even our mum did. Of course then granny died and at 4 years old my brother is suicidal because he wants to go to heaven to be with her. Abuse can be so fucking insidious it's scary. I mean would something like…
Could be, but I think it's just the fact that her hair is covering her shoulders like that.
No problem, I know what it's like to feel like you don't measure up to what the opposite sex wants, so I try to be open about my own experiences. As a teenager I was shocked by how some of the girls I knew thought of themselves, but thankfully I've moved on from my days of trying to convince anorexic girls that…
Meh, as long as you know the difference between fantasy and reality I don't care what you're attracted to. When 60% of romance novels contain some form of rape I think we need to recognise that having fantasies that you have no plan to act on isn't worthy of condemnation. What we do need is greater awareness of why…
Thanks, I was trying to remember the name of that film.
last time I shaved the beard my friends looked at me, shocked, and told me that I "looked incredibly young", "looked like a baby" and "had no chin".
One thing I think this article could have highlighted more is just how much men can be affected by the media machine. Jezebel does a great job of detailing the overwhelming ways in which women are told what they need to look like to be attractive, but remember us guys are being bombarded with those same messages.…
Caveat: straight, cisgendered male talking here.
Yeah, I think that's a big part of it too. "Lay and pray" needs to go away, I'm glad we're getting refs who will stand up fighters, standup fighters who can defend a takedown and jujitsu fighters who can get one and stay active in the guard.
