I've played Destiny just about every night for the past ~6 weeks and I've barely run into any problems. (In fact, I've been kind of astonished at how stable the servers have been, for the most part.)

This is different than what MS was offering. This is streaming your game to your friend's PS4 and them playing with another controller port, as if they were on the couch with you. Kind of different.
