As some of the guys have pointed out, having a 5.0 under the hood instead of a smaller zippy engine is an overall bad choice. Yes, the parts were probably dirt cheap, and yes it all came from either a dirt cheap donor or the junk yard as a set.

"Why did the restorer hate chrome so very much?" : Easy, a properly done paint job at home will cost 200-300 bucks in medium-qual paint. It's much cheaper to paint than chrome.

They are also exceedingly rare on the used market.

Time is money, and whatever loans they are picking up will only stack up as time goes by. It is in their best interest to roll it out as fast as possible.

It's minimum price is also ~3x the supposed entry price for the 3 wheeler.
