I have, when I hear MMO and see this I think along the lines of FF XIV Realm Reborn, Elder Scrolls Online, Aion, or Guild Wars 2. Vindictus is more of an ORPG which is heavily Instanced, not really about sprawling open landscapes and interactions with hundreds of players at a time. Do you know any others?

Like Bob said I'm sure they are releasing it around winter to push Wii Us and Smash for Xmas which is the time of the year most people are willing to spend for a new console. Also Wii U owners like me will most likely buy the 3DS version while waiting for the main game. Very smart choice on Nintendo's part.
