best trickin my book is to hold the nail near the head, never rest your thumb on the object that your hammering into, that way if you hit your thumb the space between the surface and your thumb will absorbs the recoil and you barely feel the impact, out of luck if its a tack but works perfectly with meaty nails.

its fairly common for PCP rifles to have gauge on the end, I was looking into buying one insted of my spring and gas rifles but they're just so damn expensive.
