That’s because Tesla is a hottie. In the extremely competitive and difficult automotive business it is incredible that a company has come out of the blue and rewritten the script. It definitely not all not roses but to suggest that what Tesla has pulled off is less than remarkably is being very naive about the

In new developments by Honda you can put water out with fire.

What happened to 18 inch wheels? Was hoping to see Dubs on the track this year.

Looking around NW these days - coulda fooled me.

What were they thinking with that front overhang!

That is the most beautiful car in the world!

Baby's got back!

The interest is not huge. The benefits of receiving one lump that you can squirrel away is huge. For many it is tough to set aside savings with each paycheck.

My ethics go to the highest bidder.

In other words there is not a single good reason to use rwd in the Alphard. Fwd offers better packaging, no transmission tunnel or rear diff, and retains the benefits of independent suspension. Unlike a Mercedes or bmw luxury sedan the Alphard doesn't have to worry about channeling 600bhp for AMG and M versions.

There are no ride benefits to rwd in a car such as the Alphard. You still haven't explained why the Alphard needs fwd due to cost when it makes a cheaper Hiace on a rwd platform.

So one minute you say its too expensive to use a rwd platform on the Alphard next you are saying fleet operators prefer rwd? Ford kept the live axle only because it was cheap and they could get away with it using the heritage excuse. They dumped it once the excuse was no longer sustainable. I understand the suburban

A sprinter is multipurpose vehicle that primarily serves the cargo and trade markets. It is also a huge vehicle. The Alphard is not a multipurpose vehicle in the same way. No comparison.

Nonsense. Body on frame rwd with live axles are cheaper, which is why ford held onto the live axle mustang and panther so long, and why GM is reluctant to get rid of its tahoe/escalade platform. They are cash cows. The Alphard is a premium car. The hiace is cheaper so it is not the Alphard than is most pressed for

Not to mention the Hiace and Alphard are the same physical size. They serve two very different purposes which is why the Alphard is fwd and the hiace rwd. The Alphard is fwd because a fwd platform suits its purpose much better. They are way more space efficient but have a poorer load capacity which is why the Alphard

We are not interested in fleet operators. The Alphard is a luxury car, not a commercial vehicle. A lexus in a one box package.

Those are not priorities when considering luxury vans like the Toyota Alphard, which is where we started this conversation

I’d wager the Odyssey still makes a better luxury one box vehicle than the v class since it's designed as a passenger car first.

We're talking about a luxury van here. Fwd far better for packaging and payload capacity is not a concern. Oddy does luxury far better than any commercial platform would. No-one is going to be drifting these vans so rwd is pointless.

RWD why?
