It’s a portmanteau (sort of? ) of “Blue and White” a Columbia magazine and “blog”. I think that’s all the thought that went into the name (and I have no idea if Bwog and The Blue and White are still affiliated)

Hear hear! Also, anyone looking to borrow a long sleeved lace wedding dress? I have no idea what to do with mine post wedding!
~Why on earth would you have that many guests/spend that much money (maybe subset of of laid back bride)
WHAT IS AN ENGAGEMENT SHOWER?
I’ll pass on the advice that I got from my Rabbi the day before my wedding: Your MIL (in your case, for me it was a different family member) WILL do something to drive you nuts on your wedding day. There is nothing you can do about it, so your best bet is to laugh about it and ignore it if at all possible. GOOD LUCK!…
THIRD WAVE FEMINISM FTW! You can totally want and have those things.
Counting my wedding and my youngest sister’s wedding, my middle sister has been a bridesmaid 12 times It’s nice she’s such an amazing friend, but MAN I do not envy her.
“Now, the summer of ‘05 seems like Eden before the fall. The cute DIY stuff, the thoughtful touches that we came up with—that was child’s play compared to what came later. Over the past decade, we’ve borne witness to a wedding arms race, and you all know it, because you’ve been on the battlefield. You’ve sipped…
I wrote an article about kids on the campaign trail in 2007, and the Obamas were protective of Malia and Sasha to such a point that we actually just left them out of the article because we couldn’t get anything interesting. It was super annoying at the time, but I think that parading these kids around is worse. Also,…
I mean, my best friend is also from there, BUT my husband sometimes pretends he is from elsewhere, so I guess that gives me permission to agree?
OK. I am obviously totally wrong and my data set it all messed up. but TOP SHEETS ARE THE BEST
It seemed to be concentrated in my NJ friends but I am very pleased to be proven wrong.
AND EVERYONE I’VE EVER MET FROM NEW JERSEY. What is up with that? My husband (from NJ) uses a top sheet now because I gave him no choice (but also because before we lived together, he had a comforter) but he likes falling asleep on top of the duvet which makes no sense to me; our sheets are soft. Our duvet is not.
Ack. *relieved
Ah. Good point. ETA: I am very relived to learn that this is a crime.
Huh. I was about to write that it’s not basically a crime, it IS a crime, but as far as I can tell from google, the crime would have been setting up a recording device, and these guys (yeah, Talese would be guilty too) seemed to do it without a recording device.
Yup. I basically dox myself here all the time (and actually did so for a research paper a few years back) so I figured I’d avoid an actual hyperlink or description in my comment itself. I wasn’t a victim, and I still felt super violated. Victimless crime my butt.
Expectation of privacy for one. Intent and prolonged planning and observation. Which is not to say you should stick around in the forest situation, but the hotel situation shows a really invasive and ongoing plan to observe people.
I am pretty much shaking with rage here. I’m from a religious community that was the victim of voyeurism for years before it was found out, and the fact that the victims didn’t know they were being filmed did NOT reduce harm. There are plenty of people worth a profile that do not require a journalist to be complicit…
I couldn’t pronounce my l’s or r’s as a child. My name has both and is rare, so people couldn’t just intuit the name, and would instead repeat it back to me with all the w’s. I thankfully don’t remember this, but apparently it infuriated me. More recently, I was at Starbucks with my mom and I told them my Starbucks…
