Most of the people I know are film buffs, so they're excited. I don't know how the general public is thinking. I guess that's why Bullock's in the movie, since she's pretty much gold at the box office, although she hasn't been in a sci-fi adventure since 'Demolition Man', so that might be asking a lot.
This from Cuaron's interview with Variety yesterday may add to your answer: "
According to sting, love is the seventh wave, so we know how this ends
Some screenwriters prefer to write their scripts like they were giving it at a pitch meeting, and if you've ever been in a pitch meeting, wild exclamations helps hold the executive's interest.
I know I'm not the target audience for these movies, but even so, this looks like such a Hunger Games wannabe it's difficult to build up any interest. But I think Shailene Woodley's a good, charismatic actress and deserving of the hype she's getting, just based on her performance in "The Descendants".
The Internet would've cast a cat in the role.
haha...seriously. it's like some people didn't know there really weren't living people in those buildings.
They didn't even mention the bit about Kirk and Khan having a verbal showdown, then Kirk conveniently distracted by McCoy running blood tests on tribbles. i remember saying to myself, "Gee, I'll bet that comes back later in the movie."
Because Abrams, Orci, Kurtzman, and Lindelof aren't very imaginative people and they just wanted to exploit the fond memories of the most beloved Trek movie rather than come up with anything remotely new? Just a guess.
Holding a director to 100% models these days is an impossibility, and Nolan has never claimed he's never used CGI. If you can find a citation, I'd like to see it. Otherwise, get with reality: the best directors use one or the other when appropriate. The lazy directors rely on CGI only. I mean, do we really need car…
Definite points for whoever came up with "CentauRod".
Girardi always seemed like a cool guy, so I kind of feel sorry for him: His bosses are nuts, his team is closer to social security than another World Series, and his highest paid player is a narcissistic cheater and apparently willing to throw anyone under the bus to save his own neck, someone whom he's pretty much…
I was going to say just that: It took you 4 pitches to hit a guy?
The perfect eating machines.
I saw this when it was originally released and recall not liking it much, mostly because it just dissolved into a Ten Little Indians countdown of which crew member was going to get it next, interspersed with Solaris - like hallucinations and memories. But it didn't execute either of those tropes nearly well enough,…
And people complained about Superman snapping Zod's neck.
If he did it overseas, it might be like that. Working in America seems to bring out the worst in him. His Spanish/Mexican movies are so much better examples of his storytelling ability.
Huh—-surprised the only movie I'm looking forward to is "Gravity", maybe Catching Fire just because I'm a JLaw fan. Will probably skip the others unless the word of mouth is great. On 'Carrie', I'd much prefer a remake of DePalma's "The Fury", as long as it keeps that ending of endings.
I love it when the entire point of a post is disproven in one comment Photo.
