You really are a desperate corporate shill, aren’t you?

I’m not even going to bother rebutting you, because if you don’t realize how utterly stupid your arguments are by now, then you’re an absolute lost cause.

So go on, continue blaming all of Star Wars problems on sexists or whatever. I guarantee you that isn’t going

1: Not only do you exaggerate these sexist campaigns, I don’t care about them. What some moron says on Youtube doesn’t change if a character is good or not.

First, I’ve explained thing in depth. If you weren’t paying attention or couldn’t understand it, that isn’t my fault.

Second, no the storytelling isn’t at all fine, for any genre. When you’re making a story, you don’t have crap happen for no discernable reason, which occurs constantly for Rey. Even if you COULD though,

Yes, the writing in the prequels is garbage. I’m not sure why you thought I’d think otherwise. Problem is, the writing in the newer trilogy is also garbage. Also, of course, the film isn’t for me, as it happens, I’m not a Star Wars fan!

You know the old saying about making assumptions, right?

Anyhow, all I wanted from

Explanations, sure. Explanations that aren’t utterly idiotic, no.

Also, most of those explanations don’t exist IN THE FILM. You can’t judge a film based on supplementary material or interviews with the creative team. Trying to do so is essentially an admission that you failed to do your job correctly with the film

You’re mistaking anger for contempt. I’m not the least bit angry, I simply lack any respect for your opinion, positions and life choices.

Kid, I’m perfectly calm. So if that’s your idea of an intelligent retort, you’re even more pathetic than I first thought.

No, I’m complaining about people using sexism as an excuse to ignore glaring flaws with the story. That’s okay though, we all know you have issues with following simple logic. We’re not gonna hold it against you.

And no one said boo. Yet when a girl does it, all of the sudden it’s worthy of complaint.

No, it was because he was surrounded by a lot of fairly interesting characters in the first film, and therefore had the time and leeway needed to develop. TFA didn’t have that benefit. Han and Leia were kinda played out as characters by that point and didn’t have all that much to add. The rebel pilot guy, I forget his

Either you’re insane, stupid, or intellectually dishonest because The Phantom Menace was widely slammed after it’s release.

Actually, judging by your previous comments and the fact that you blamed all of this on sexism, I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s all of the above. So congratulations, you’re officially a

Yeah, and that was stupid. I don’t why you think you can defend one stupid storytelling decision by pointing to another. Life doesn’t work that way.

Alright, in all seriousness, the performance behind the character is fine, and I can’t fault people for liking it. But the writing for Rey is simply, horrible.

My first issue is, of course, she’s too good at everything she does with no explanation for it. My second issue is that she’s way too similar to Luke Skywalker.

Correct. The acting is fine, but the writing for her is horrifically bad, it’s a pure power fantasy in its most transparent form. That’s the sort of mistake writing teachers caution against in the first few weeks of class. It’s not only basic, it’s the most basic of the basics. This is one of the most common mistakes

Ayep.

Amazing effects, decent enough acting, but HORRIBLE WRITING! I’m constantly shocked that the film has as many defenders as it does.

Funny, I could’ve sworn we were talking about the storytelling merit of Star Wars. How did we get from there to there again? Huh, I must have made a wrong turn in Albuquerque!

1: I don’t really care that Rey isn’t a Skywalker. I can understand why some people theorized that she was, but honestly, I’m going to agree with the filmmakers on this one. Making her a Skywalker would have been a bad move.

However, the fact that you went off on this little tangent demonstrates either poor

Exactly. I do hate to keep beating this drum, but this sort of thing is basic storytelling 101. It’s simply infuriating to see so many people ignoring flaws like this while screaming about sexism.

And you’re right about Luke Skywalker. In A New Hope Luke isn’t a huge presence. He’s introduced, and it’s heavily implied

I don’t care about bullcrap, handwaving deus ex machina explanations. That crap is so far beyond stupid that it’s a wonder you can even say it with a straight face. 9_9

No, I’m passionate because i REALLY HATE the argument. I hear it practically every time people bring up issues with the new trilogy. Therefore, it drives me absolutely insane.

People should be able to discuss the merits of storytelling without these intellectual pipsqueaks screaming sexism constantly!

Also, I’m a highly
