Uh-huh. He likened a 14 year-old girl - a kid, ffs - to a baby deer. So disturbing.

There was an attack with a vehicle in Edmonton, but fortunately no one (including the attacker) was killed.

Yeah, I feel you. That whole thing was really disturbing to me because it was basically Rapist Thinking 101. Rape is not really an act of lust or uncontrollable desire, it’s about power and control and intimidation. This person is basically detailing how he enjoys making women feel afraid and likes having that power

I love how this is supposed to be sexy. The girl on the right looks distressed (and oiled... only from the waist down?). The one on the left just looks confused.

Sexy carp or GTFO.

Fortunately it seems Canadians haven’t become indifferent to this type of violence. Every December for as long as I can remember, the Marc Lepine killings are mentioned on the news, and universities still hold vigils. Do US campuses do the same thing on the anniversary of the Elliot Rodger killings? (If so I haven’t

Careful what you ask for. There are trolls run amok on this topic (not that that should shock, given both the topic and its well-documented psychodynamics; these are likely reading some of the same talking points as the odious ones who relentlessly trolled & harassed Zoe Quinn, Anita Sarkeesian, Adria Richards, et al.

I have to say this seems out of character in mild mannered Canada. I thought mass murder was an American thing.

Yes, Rebecca Solnit said women are viewed as “inherently empty” vessels. We have no internal life or existence outside of objects.

He was a 25 year old student. He could have just studied at his college, improved his social skills, got a nice job, theres plenty of computer jobs in Toronto, and enjoyed the city. He could have had a nice life.

Shallow, vapid, whores. We are attracted to window dressing because we are too stupid to know what’s really good for us. We should really want some spineless, keyboard hero who can’t interact in any meaningful way with people in real life.

It kind of was a thing though. The Montreal murder was 1989, and it was very much of this idea. The lack of internet and these groups did possibly prevent the idea from spreading though.

God, I couldn’t agree more- I was a shy, maladjusted teen and 20-something with some real anger issues that I managed to work through, and these days I consider myself to be a pretty plain, well-adjusted adult. But if I’d had the horrible resources the internet provides people like me today? I have some idea how I

Honestly, I think it has to come from other men. And I think most men don’t give a shit. But they’re not going to listen to women. We aren’t people to them.

Is there anything guys like you can do to prevent young men from becoming radicalized? I try to talk to the guys who seem vulnerable to this ideology, but they-being baby-misogynists, tend to discount anything I say. Really have no idea how to stop what I suspect will eventually become an organized terrorist group.

Since I first read this, I have been thinking the only difference between these guys and ISIS is that they probably can’t grow beards and don’t want to give up capitalism. That.Is.It. A big selling point for a lot of those men that ran off to join ISIS was the prospect of all those “wives” right now, willing or not.

Yeah it’s really dangerous. And there’s a lot of young men out there who have a lot of hurt, anger and resentment.

Agree.

Yeah, it is fucking scary. ISIS was able to come to the power they did mostly because of the instability of the region, so if we have similar instability here, shit is going to get really bad.

Can’t get on board with the last sentence, but....
