This is heartbreaking and something I may very well have to deal with being as I’m a substitute teacher. In Texas. It’s something I would have had to deal with as a student, too, being that I’m bisexual. I was fairly open about it at school but if my mother had ever gotten word of it... She would have kicked me out of…
For people opposed to the “nanny state” they sure are keen on government interference in people’s lives.
Could someone put info up on which numbers to call if you want to voice your position against the bill, as a constituent? I don’t live in Texas, but that seems like good information to know.
Him: “Helpmeet, make me a cake shaped like a hotter woman than you.”
This is not “crying wolf.” I understand what you’re getting at in terms of relative harms, but thinking along these lines and then telling people they can only call out the worst possible offensive behavior is a problem.
Treating women’s bodies as a commodity to be consumed is an unacceptable and pernicious trend that needs to be called out.
These cakes were definitely in poor taste in a professional setting, but considering that we are now dealing with the rise of actual Neo-Nazis I am no longer capable of being outraged over juvenile offences like this.
I’m glad that the article brought up 3 Women because she was great in that.
I’m peeved that people just reduce Duvall’s career down to The Shining. Her career is chock full of great directors and her exemplary work behind the camera for children’s entertainment. She is a gentle soul and does not deserve this, leave her the hell alone.
I’ve been a bit surprised by the reaction to Doctor Phil. Like, this was the final straw? When did people hear about Dr. Phil? Yesterday? He’s been a piece of shit for a long, long time. Whatever other gifts she has, Oprah has consistently shown herself to be a fairly poor judge of character.
Maybe what he was trying to say is he’d have voted for Trump because it would out all the bigots?
Is everyone intentionally missing the point?

Yeah, it seems weird to me that someone would leave a dog tethered and unsupervised in Churchill, which is notorious for how many polar bears are wandering around (no joke, they have a polar bear jail in that town where they put the unruly polar bears). It is my understanding that no one in Churchill locks their…
If you look at the land in the background, you’ll see the rest of the dog-team staked out. This is normal for sled dogs - they are separated so that they don’t fight amongst themselves (these are not pets, but very active, aggressive working dogs)
Cool. So you wanna step out first? I’ll follow once I’ve determined they’ve gnawed on you enough to be well fed.
A guy I know went on one of these tours, where a train of wheeled trailers takes you out on the ice to see the bears. He said the safety briefing was unusual:
