On the plus side, she can read an entire book without supervision, would probably score pretty low on a psychopathy inventory, and has a demonstrated ability to have a non-one-sided conversation.

Domesticated horses aren’t wildlife.
This is a serious subject, and it behooves us not to make silly puns.
Did anyone else think this is movie was basically a weaker version of Goodfellas, only about the financial industry? I kind of got the point after the first five “we literally had money to burn and there was a lot of drugs and beautiful women” scenes.
It kind of makes me want to cry to see something so beautifully animated with such an awful stereotype in it. What a fucking waste.
I seem to remember that the musical cue for “mammy” in children’s cartoons was “Arkansas Traveler.” I don’t remember if they used that in the Tom and Jerry cartoons, but probably. Like, did the musical director think “oh, a black maid character - I need to use a tune associated with the antebellum south”? Like WTF?
It’s hyperbole. I doubt robotisattva thinks this is literally true.
I can only guess at why this is so difficult for some people, mostly men, particularly powerful men. Maybe powerful men in particular are used to everyone deferring to them and wanting their attention/acquaintanceship/friendship, and they think that’s the same as everyone wanting them to breathe down their neck? I’m writing from Canada where there’s no statute of limitations for any indictable (serious) offense, which includes rape. I’m no lawyer, but I do know that it’s really hard to get a conviction for sexual assault that happened in the not-terribly-distant past with testimony from multiple people (as the Jian Ghomeshi…
I’m actually glad that we, as a society, are starting to question the sexist double standard apparent in the representation of fishpeople in the media (specifically as regards the desirability of boning them).

I read it as fiiiine, not “eh, it’s fine.” But now I don’t know which it is.
Me too.
For Jezzies who are in the US, and that’s most of you, I think there’s a good chance you’ve never heard of Stephen Galloway (one of the article’s authors). Basically he’s the Canadian literary scene’s Harvey Weinstein, in that he’s a powerful man in his field who was recently the subject of a high-profile sexual…
Yes, they probably do actually believe that. The whole “incel” internet subculture is devoted to that particular notion, and I think the mentality exists in a lot of places, not just the deepest pits in the internet.
Well, one of the co-writers is Stephen Galloway, who’s kind of like the Canadian literary scene’s Harvey Weinstein (in that he’s a man with a lot of power in his field who’s recently been the subject of a high profile sexual assault scandal).
.
Based on the opinions I’ve heard so far I think I’m gonna skip it.
Not much, dog. What’s up with you?
Personally I’m waiting for everyone to switch to Updog, but I’m not sure it’s going to happen. Being an early adopter has its drawbacks.
