No, the robots didn’t build themselves, but just because he could build a robot to complete the challenge doesn’t mean that he deserves to have completed it, because, you know, he didn’t, the robot did.

The anime pretty much did hit all the major plot points in the story up to this point, but because that’s pretty much all they were trying to touch on, everything is incredibly rushed. I still enjoyed watching it as it stayed true to it’s core, but man, it’s like they’re trying to give you whiplash or something.
