From a business perspective this makes the most sense. Same reason none of the Castlevania or Mega Man titles are available, they were released as paid compilations instead. And there was a paid DK DLC for Mario V Rabbids so no doubt either a remaster or collection is on the way.

Considering that a male protagonist in a video game is likely played by one of a handful of actors that have been doing voices for decades,I agree that women protagonists to often be a refreshing change for sure.
