It's been interesting to read Jezebel unleash its venom against Macklemore using many of the same terms it criticizes in similar media attacks against female celebrities. I'm not arguing "anti-male sexism!" because I don't think that's what's really going on here, but I am seeing a very familiar dynamic at

This article is petty and mean.

Not particularly a Macklemore fan, not particularly a Macklemore hater either. He seems to be getting a lot of crap from this site today. Seems like a nice dude, not the most talented EVAR, but definitely not the least. He won some awards (that really don't make any difference in real life) and involved himself in

....and if she'd been a teenaged boy who murdered an adult woman, guess who'd be the bad guy? Guess whose sexualty would be breathlessly deconstructed for every salacious detail?

News organizations that serve as a primary source of information have an obligation to do the best they can to report the entirety of the truth, or at the very least to ask questions.

Those darn rich people! They make more money than I do! I deserve the money they make! I am outraged that there are people richer than I am! Outraged! Life is so unfair...it's all the fault of rich people, I think!

I'm starting to think that any author/journalist/blogger/etc who criticizes how other people spend their own money should provide her own one year spending history along with their current financial state of affairs and overall net worth.

At least they are not spending $10,000 on a few photos like Jezebel did.

I don't understand the problem with Sallie Mae? Mother was a cosigner. She was liable for the balance even if kid died/defaulted on his side of the agreement. Not nice but I thought that was the whole point of cosigners, two people are liable for debts.

Ummmmm...alright. Obviously what he did is sanction-worthy, and he should have gotten punished a lot more severely than he did. But I do think "Jill" should damn well feel guilty, based on the screen captures posted. "Power disparities" is not an excuse to abandon any personal responsibility, and she is an adult

I think the author is falsely assuming that McBride was killed because of the color if her skin. There is no evidence to indicate that that is the case.

Eh I find it very believable that he might have been freaked out. She was drunk, injured, and bleeding on his door steps at night. That would scare most people black or white. Now obviously you don't shoot somebody just because you're kinda nervous and it may be that his actions were criminally unjustifiable. But

I hate to be that white guy because I hate when white guys post like I am just about to do —but I can't resist because this really looks like it is looking for an issue where the probably is not one:

I went to Howard School of Law and several of my classmates were white. I know for a fact that the undergrad division has white students enroll every year. It's not that big a deal.

I just do not understand why they're suing members who weren't involved in this whatsoever. Sue the shit out of the kid driving, and maybe uhaul, but anything else is pretty fucking gross of the family of this woman.

I think it would be racist to stereotype Howard students as black. Racism!!!!

Except Alinea isn't quite just a restaurant. It's not just a place people go to just to eat. The experience there is more about just the food, its about all the crazy shit the chefs do to enhance the experience of eating the food. Its more like a combination of live theater and dining. Just as you would expect quiet

Two problems - 1) If you paid an admission price, the space is by definition not public. Paying that admission price included an agreement to adhere to the rules set out by the owner of the location, which almost certainly included not disturbing the other patrons.

A baby is a baby is the dumbest most parenting logic statement I've ever heard. Sure a baby is a baby and a parent who brings a baby to a place knowing that its an uncontrollable tempest is an asshole. The parent is the focal point of the problem, not the stimuli.

How dare someone talk about all the money, training, etc that goes into competition?
