The pacing of AS-P shows bugs a lot of people. She'll frequently start a plot thread, leave it for a few episodes, and then come back to it later, plus she'll cycle characters in and out. I personally love it, because I think it makes her shows more immersive and unpredictable, but it's very unlike every other show on

No! I'll have to check it out. Have you read the Way of Kings, the first book in Sanderson's latest series? I really, really liked it, and I can't wait for the rest of the series. It's going to be so hard waiting the whole thing out. By the time I got into WoT, there were already 9 or 10 books out.

Right, but I don't see how this has anything to do with Islam or religion or politics. It's not like should the US intervene to protect women's rights or something, it's just an ok, this woman did something cool. I don't recall there being much disagreement over that first female director from Saudi Arabia (who made

Just out of curiosity, why do you think there's going to be a flame war in the comments? There isn't anything particularly controversial in the post — just a brief overview of a talented, inspirational woman. I can't even figure out how someone would go about starting a flame war on this post.

This is an especially well timed column given that there were people in the comments section of the Beastie Boys thread from earlier accusing them of appropriation. Hip hop music is hip hop music — the skin color of the person performing is irrelevant.

I didn't call you dumb; I said that I thought the last paragraph of your post was dumb. Why did you call the Beastie Boys entitled? And why would you say "another culture's music?" Music (and art in general) doesn't belong to a culture, it is itself a culture. The Beastie Boys were a part of the hip hop culture that

Yep, I wear my nerd flag proudly. I spent a few weeks in high school greeting people with "Peace favor your sword." Needless to say, I was not the most popular kid in school.

Yeah, I figured it was probably a GoT reference, since that's way more ubiquitous than WoT.

Totally off-topic, but is your username a reference to Daes Dae'mar? If so, I salute and applaud you for your good taste.

Woah! I love AHS as much as everyone else, but it's not even on the same level as Bunheads. Amy Sherman-Palladino is the best writer in the history of television, in my opinion. Her work is so different than anything else I've ever seen. Every episode is a breath of fresh air.

Well, nothing else to watch that compares to Bunheads, the most criminally under-appreciated masterpiece to ever grace the small screen. I seriously think it's an almost perfect show. It only ran for one season, but my, what a season it was.

Wait, you're accusing the Beastie Boys of appropriation in the comments section of an article about someone covering a Beastie Boys song without permission to sell toys? And honestly, musicians influence each other so much that it's silly to talk about appropriation. Yes, the Beastie Boys were one of the first hugely

Shhh! What are you talking about? All peoples of the religious persuasion are rude, evil assholes who constantly belittle other people and never do anything to help them. Didn't you get the memo?

Hmm, my Costco (in Atlanta) has a pretty decent book selection, and it's all arranged on labeled shelves. I'm 95% sure there's a religion/philosophy section. Maybe other Costco's have less of a selection, but it's still a misplaced sticker. Whether or not it's true, no one would put the bible in a fiction section.

I don't understand why this is a big anti-religion rallying point. A guy got mad that the Bible was in the fiction section, and we're all going to act like 10 year olds and say "HAHA! THAT'S BECAUSE IT IS FICTION LOLOLOLOL!!!!!1111one"? Is the Bible literally true like some people claim? No, obviously not, But it

To be fair, this is not really a case of religious zealots being assholes. The Bible belongs in the religion/philosophy section of bookstores, just like books about or related to Islam, Buddhism, Wicca, and every other religion or system of philosophical beliefs.

Hmm, but it was the victim's lawyer who requested that the report be sealed. Honestly though, there's no point in speculating, since we don't actually know anything about the case right now. Hopefully if anyone did try to shut down the case to protect a star athlete, it will come to light in the investigation.

On the second page of this article, they mention something about new information and reopening the case, but it looks like the victim's lawyer has had the case file sealed during the investigation, in accordance with Florida laws about sexual assault. Unfortunately, that makes it pretty hard to comment on the case at
